Jellyfish have a symbiotic relationship with a photosynthetic algae called zooxanthellae —this means that the algae live directly within the jellyfish's tissues, and this helps to supply the jellyfish with the energy it needs to survive via sunlight. As such, only about a quarter of its energy needs come from its food, and the rest comes from floating through the sun rays!
